Worship
We gather together in spiritual community because we need constant reminders of what matters most in life. Our congregation and communities call us to our better selves – we learn to live with more wisdom, more connection, and more compassion.
Our Worship Services are weekly reflections that weave together our own thoughts and experiences with music, beauty, poetry, and words that both comfort and challenge. Our programs for all ages inspire us, and awaken us to our capacities to make a difference in our own lives and in the world. We welcome all people interested in pursuing the journey toward a spiritual life to join us in our Sunday celebrations.
Starting on the first Sunday after Labor Day and continuing each week through the second Sunday in June, our community members come together on Sunday mornings at 10:30 am. (except in the summer when we meet at 9:30 am.) and enjoy a social hour in the parlor after the service.
While the content of our Sunday Celebrations may vary, the services are often built around the following framework:
- Words of welcome
- Lighting a flaming chalice, the symbol of our faith
- A multi-generational segment, such as a “story for all ages”
- Music, both instrumental and vocal and in a variety of styles
- A time for lifting up the joys and concerns of the congregation
- A meditation or prayer
- Readings—ancient or contemporary
- A sermon given by a professional minister, a guest speaker, or a member of the congregation
- An offering, collecting financial donations for the congregation or for justice work in the community.
Children are always welcome at our services. The service is broadcast into our Parlor, if you find your child needs a little more wiggle room than the Sanctuary provides.
During the church year, we also offer nursery care for babies and toddlers during the service, and our outstanding Religious Education (RE) program for preschool through high-school aged children. (These programs are not available over the summer).
We invite you to join us at an upcoming worship service.
