The presentation, scheduled for Wednesday, November 15 starting at 7 pm on Zoom will focus on the legislative work of the Indigenous Justice Task Force in Minneapolis, Minnesota. We will discuss the challenges and opportunities of working with Native people and building support alliances and coalitions of people involved in the same work.
Presenters
Michael Miller: White, involved in indigenous justice work since 1972. Member of the American Indian Movement (AIM) since 1973. Currently chairs the Indigenous Justice Task Force at his church in Minneapolis. Their goals and activities include a legislative proposal to direct state deed tax money to Native programs, land back initiatives, and educational programs to teach an accurate history of the state.
Kathryn “Jody” Beaulieu: Ojibwe, enrolled citizen of the Red Lake Nation, Bear clan. Active in the occupations of Alcatraz and Wounded Knee. Niece of Roger Jourdain, 32-year chairman of the Red Lake Nation. Former Tribal Secretary of Red Lake Tribal Council. Masters in Tribal Government from the University of Minnesota.
