Modern Day Vietnam – A Traveler’s Perspective

Pat and John Gaines recently returned from five weeks in Southeast Asia, with time in South Korea, Vietnam, and Cambodia. In addition to seeing the sights, the group tour engaged with people at a personal level in all parts of Vietnam, including a former North Vietnam Army regular, a Viet Cong guerrilla fighter, and a Vietnamese Army soldier.

John will draw on these meetings to lead a discussion about modern Vietnam, the aftermath of the “American War” 50 years later, and the impact of 47 years of communist rule on people’s lives. There will be a limited number of slides and time for group participation since there are other FUSIT members who have also traveled in Vietnam.

Use the entrance at 208 E. Buffalo Street for elevator access.
