“Youth are encouraged to view themselves as agents of change in the world as they develop qualities crucial to social justice work. They will reflect on their own lives, make connections to the lives lived by others, and build self-awareness while growing as leaders… Faith in Action projects lead youth, step-by-step, in becoming effective allies to marginalized communities.”

Tapestry of Faith, UUA

Fun, Fellowship, and Faith in Action – we have a special place for you!

Explore your spirit at the First Unitarian Society of Ithaca. Embracing all traditions of religious inquiry and practice, we look to 7 simple principles to guide us. Whether hiking a trail or discussing Dr. Who on Sci-Fi Sundays, we help you answer the question, “How do I become who I want to be in the World?”

High School and Middle School Youth Groups

Our Youth Groups meet Sunday mornings from 10:30 to 11:30 (from September through June), and are open to Youth in 7th through 12th grades. Youth Group is a welcoming place to hang out, connect and explore what it means to grow up as a Global Citizen in our changing world. Ask the “Big Questions,” participate in community service projects, and connect with other UU teens from congregations in the Upstate Region at weekend Youth Conferences (CONs) run by Youth!

 Experiential Learning and Social Justice

Whether offered through the Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA), or in partnership with neighboring congregations, Service Learning trips are powerful ways to exercise Faith in Action, Youth will learn the importance of exposure to other cultures, and gain critical leadership skills as ambassadors of peace, and agents of Social Change. Formative life experiences abound in service to others.
