SUMMARY:Beacon on Aurora - An Evening with Peter Mulvey
DESCRIPTION:\n\nBeacon on Aurora - An Evening with Peter Mulvey\nSunday\, J
 anuary 12\nDoors open at 6:30 pm\, Concert begins at 7 pm\n\nPeter Mulvey
has been a songwriter\, road-dog\, raconteur and almost-poet since before
he can remember. Raised workingclass Catholic on the Northwest side of Mil
waukee\, he took a semester in Ireland\, and immediately began cutting cla
sses to busk on Grafton Street in Dublin and hitchhike through the country
\, finding whatever gigs he could. Back stateside\, small shows led to lar
ger shows\, which eventually led to regional and then national and interna
tional touring. Nineteen records\, an illustrated book\, thousands of live
  performances\, a TEDx talk\, a decades-long association with the National
Youth Science Camp\, opening for luminaries such as Ani DiFranco\, Emmylo
u Harris\, and Chuck Prophet\, appearances on NPR\, an annual autumn tour
by bicycle\, emceeing festivals\, hosting his own boutique festival (the L
amplighter Sessions\, in Boston and Wisconsin)… Mulvey never stops. He f
olds everything he encounters into his work: poetry\, social justice\, sci
entific literacy\, and a deeply abiding humanism are all on plain display
in his art.\n$20 suggested donation\n\nVolunteers are needed for baking c
ookies\, helping with intermission snacks and beverages\, and at the door
for ticket sales. Please contact Music Director Stephanie at music@uuitha
ca.org  if you can help!\n\nMore information and tickets
