SUMMARY:“A Planet To Win – Why We Need a Green New Deal” Book Discuss
 ion
DESCRIPTION:Join the EIC to discuss this highly acclaimed book by Kate Aro
 noff\, Alyssa Battistoni\, Daniel Adana Cohen\, &amp\; Thea Riofrancos\, w
ith a foreword by Naomi Klein.\n\n“This compelling book clearly lays out
the arguments for a “Green New Deal\,” tying the goals of the climate
and sustainability movements to those of the broader labor and social jus
tice movements.  Grounded in the transformative approach of FDR’s New D
eal – coupled with the oratory of W.E.B. Dubois\, Martin Luther King\, J
 r. and LGBTQ rights activists – this book is a call-to-arms for everyone
concerned about the future of the world.  Rather than focusing on small
changes that individuals can make\, this book proposes “big and bold ide
as” with the understanding that “collective action rather than individ
ual sacrifice is what is required in the face of an existential crisis.”
