Parking

Finding a place to park near the First Unitarian Church is not a problem !

Sunday mornings

There are many parking options available.

Curbside: We ask that the metered spaces closest to the Church (along Buffalo and Aurora Streets) be left open for our members and friends with disabilities. There are usually bags with a handicap symbol placed over these meters on Sunday. However, there are many other curbside spaces within a block of the Church. It is not necessary to feed any meter on the weekends.

Parking Garage: The Seneca Street Parking Garage is located one-half block south of the church, adjacent to the Town Hall building (and next to the Post Office entrance on N. Tioga Street). It is easily visible from the Church’s corner entrance at Buffalo and Aurora Streets. The parking garage has drive-up entrances on Seneca Street and on N. Tioga Street. There are pedestrian entrances and elevators on N. Aurora Street and North Tioga Street. This facility has covered and lighted space for hundreds of cars and is free all day Saturday and Sunday and every evening after 8:00 (see note below).

Parking Lot: On Sundays only church-goers may use the Thaler Building parking lot, next to the church on the north side. That lot has space for about 30 cars.

The Town Hall parking lot, across Buffalo Street from the church building, has a limited number of available spaces on Sunday only. The rest of the week, including evenings, town employees regularly move their vehicles in and out of that parking lot.

At other times

Curbside: Daytime metered parking is available on the streets all around the church. Evenings after 6:00 there is no charge. If, during the day, you are willing to walk a few blocks, there is free curbside parking several blocks north of Buffalo Street as you start to get into the residential “Fall Creek” neighborhood. If you have a quick errand at the church there is a “10-minute free” parking zone half a block away on Buffalo Street, and on North Tioga Street near the Post Office.

Parking Garage: There is no charge for the first hour of parking in either of the two downtown City of Ithaca parking garages (on Seneca and Green Streets). Parking is also free after 8:00 in the evening. [NOTE – this means that if you drive in at anytime before 6:00 pm but leave after 8:00 pm when there is no attendant on duty, you may leave without paying.]
