The Civil Liberties and Separation of Church and State Action Team
Welcome!
If you would like information about the activities of this group, you may contact: Niels and Mary Shulz 753-0325 <nielss@worldnet.att.net>.
Meetings: monthly; please contact Mary for time and date.
Goals: The Civil Liberties and Separation of Church and State Action Team will continue to focus on women's reproductive rights and other civil rights issues which we believe follow from our Unitarian Universalist traditions. This year we will explore ways to engage our communitiy in a dialogue about civil liberties and the separation of church and state and will continue to sponsor educational programs, alerts, and petitions around these issues.
Petition: In 2005, on the 32nd anniversary of the Supreme Court's Roe v Wade decision, the Social Justice Council of the First Unitarian Society of Ithaca, NY, prepared a petition addressed to our US Representatives and two US Senators. If you would be interested in reading about the action we took around this petition, or reading about the related "Action of Immediate Witness" submitted to the 2005 Unitarian Universalist Association's 2005 General Assembly, please click HERE.
